Trauma Therapy for clients in Ontario, Canada and English Speakers in Germany

Holding space for your body and your nervous system

Holding space for your body and your nervous system

Some experiences stay with us longer than we expect. Whether it is an accident, a medical procedure, an experience of violence, loss, or difficult experiences in childhood or relationships: trauma is often not caused by the event itself, but by the way our nervous system was able to respond. If stress energy remains held in the body, it can continue to affect us long after the event.

I support adults using a person-centred and body-oriented approach – with the nervous system in mind.

Sessions are available in English and German – online for clients in Ontario, Canada and across Germany and in person at my practice in Dresden, Germany.

— WHEN TRAUMA LINGERS

Maybe you know the feeling ...

constantly carrying an inner tension and always having to just function.

sleeping too much or too little, and feeling completely exhausted.

Finding it hard to open up, even though you long for closeness.

feeling overwhelmed by situations that others seem to find "normal."

Often feeling "out of body," as though you aren't fully present.

being suddenly overwhelmed by old memories or images, even though you thought you had moved past it long ago.

All of these can be reactions to experiences that were too much or too overwhelming. Even if what happened is long in the past, it can still be felt today – in your body, in your relationships, in your family life, or on the job.

Note:
On my website, I have chosen to use the informal "Du" (you). Sometimes it is easier to find trust and courage to contact an outside person for personal matters through this informal approach. However, we are also very welcome to communicate using the formal "Sie" (you), depending on what feels more comfortable for you.

— MY APPROACH

How I work.

What burdens and stresses us is not only reflected at the cognitive level. It can be felt in the body – in tense muscles, shallow breathing, or in symptoms for which there is initially no clear explanation. It can manifest in our emotions and in how we react to certain situations. Sometimes, involuntary movements appear for which there is no obvious explanation, or intrusive images suddenly arise.

Body-oriented therapy incorporates all of this. We proceed gently, guiding our work by what feels right and manageable for you in each moment.

Safety

Before we turn our attention to something difficult, let's look together at what helps you feel grounded and safer in the here and now.

At your own pace

You don't have to force anything or achieve anything. We will go step-by-step, at your own pace.

There is also space for silence

Words are not the only way. If something inside you has no language, we will listen in other ways.
