— What it's about
What the body carries, without words.
Transforming Touch® was developed by Stephen Terrell and is a body-oriented, regulation-focused method for developmental and shock trauma. It works with mindful, resting hand contact and can support the regulation capacity of the nervous system. Especially in the context of early and preverbal experiences, touch can be a helpful way to integrate the body into therapeutic work.
The sessions are quiet, unhurried, and mutually agreed upon. You remain fully clothed. The hand contact can take place, for example, on the back, shoulders, or ankles – and only ever where it feels right for you.
We direct our attention to what becomes perceptible in the body: for example, changes in breathing, muscle tension, warmth, heaviness, or restlessness – without pressure toward emotional release or cognitive insight. We go at your pace and orient ourselves toward what is comfortable and manageable for you right now.
Not touching can also be part of the work. Your boundaries are respected at all times, and you remain in control.

What to expect
You will remain fully clothed throughout the session. We will discuss and agree on any touch beforehand. We will pay close attention to how your body and nervous system respond, respecting your boundaries and your experience at all times.
Duration
Integrated into the therapy session. Sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes not at all. Tailored individually to you in each moment.

You are always in control.

It is okay to say no!
We stop, pause, or do not even begin if an internal "no" arises. Exploring and communicating boundaries is an important part of the process.

At any given moment, you decide what feels right for you, and you can change your mind at any time.
No pressure to have to feel anything
There is no right or wrong way to feel.

“Our bodies are wonderfully designed to rest, regenerate, and heal. Sometimes, the greatest support we can offer is not to demand even more of them, but to remove the obstacles that prevent them from doing what they already know how to do.”
